Councilor Matthew Wright

Vision

I envision a Lewiston that works—for families, for businesses, and for future generations. A city where infrastructure is reliable, regulations make sense, and local manufacturing thrives. I believe in a government that listens, acts transparently, and uses resources wisely. Together, we can build a community that’s safer, stronger, and more responsive to the needs of every resident.

About Me

I grew up in Culdesac, Idaho, the oldest of six children. Where small-town values like hard work, honesty, and looking out for your neighbors shaped who I am today. Lewiston has been my home for many years, and it's where my wife and I raised our three sons—teaching them the same values I grew up with.

I’m honored to serve on the Lewiston City Council, appointed in January 2025. It’s been a privilege to work on behalf of our community, but there’s still important work ahead. I’m running to continue the progress we’ve started—strengthening infrastructure, supporting local industry, and making city government more efficient and responsive. I hope to earn your vote and keep Lewiston moving forward.

Promise

I will work to strengthen our economy, modernize infrastructure, and make city government more efficient, transparent, and responsive. Lewiston deserves practical solutions and leadership that listens—and I’m ready to deliver.

My Profession

Professionally, I serve as an IT Infrastructure and Operations Lead, where I specialize in keeping complex systems running smoothly and solving problems before they impact people. I’m certified in Problem Management and Lean Six Sigma, which means I know how to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and build solutions that last. These are the same skills I’ll bring to city council—strategic thinking, collaboration, and a commitment to getting things done right.

My Campaign

I’m running because I believe Lewiston deserves thoughtful leadership and practical solutions. That means encouraging local manufacturing and economic growth, improving outdated infrastructure, and making our city’s ordinances and regulations work better for residents and businesses alike. It also means managing our public assets—parks, buildings, and land—with care and long-term vision. I’m not a career politician—I’m a dad, a tech professional, and someone who believes in showing up, listening well, and working hard for the people of Lewiston.
